Akin to an Iceberg; pure and simple on the surface, deceptively complex and rich underneath. Simplexity.

Who we are

A family business, we specialise in small scale artisanal Pisco production.

We work with a few carefully selected small local, independent Pisco grape growers. They have the best knowledge about their land and are passionate for what they do and for what the result will be.

Our aim is perfection, through selection
and technique.

All of our grapes are meticulously selected and hand-picked. There is no addition of water, sugar or yeast, it is pure grape.

We put an emphasis on respecting the strictest tradition of Pisco production, combined with Japanese precision.

What sets us apart is not only our obsessive attention to detail and our Nikkei twist, but that we work with only the best.

LA FAMILIA

The year was 1917. Born in Ica, La Peruana was an upstanding Peruvian-Japanese citizen, who nurtured her community.

Proud of her origins, which embodied modern Peru, she was a lovable Latin, but also a meticulous Nikkei.

Generations later, we, her grandchildren look up to someone who rose through hardships to improve the lives of many that surrounded her.

Our uncompromising hunt for excellence is a tribute to her Japanese perfectionism ‘Kanpeki Shugi’.

We keep the same ethos of yesteryear with enthusiasm for what the future may hold; an expanding world of Pisco connoisseurs…

Our craft

As with most of the great things in life, there is no secret to making excellent Pisco, it comes down to hard work and persistence. One consistently seeks improvements, little by little, step by step, testing and trying.

The quest for perfection is endless

As the saying goes less is more

Our grape growers

Ica is the centre of the Pisco region and of the Peruvian grape growing community, this is where our Pisco comes from.

An arid climate where the sun is prevalent all year round, heat and Pisco are a way of life, and rain is a rare occurrence. One of Peru's largest underground rivers flows under the 450 year old town of Ica supplying water to the region.

Inspired by La Peruana’s contribution to her community, it was essential for us to work with small independent local grape growers to ensure their longevity and preserve their heritage in this environment dominated by corporate conglomerates.

Carefully selected, our growers have nurtured Pisco grapes for generations. Their know-how passed on from one generation to the the next, improving their technique every step of the way. Growing top quality grapes is more than their livelihood, it is their passion.

Quebranta

Quebranta

Tasting Notes

Who would have thought this tiny mutation of a grape would pack such a punch. Of course, the overriding flavour is that of grape, sweet and simple. Just as the grape intensifies, nutty pecan and dried apricots creep in. Sour lemon notes slap your inner cheeks while the smooth sweet peach and mellow banana delicately massage them..

This Pisco Puro is made purely of Quebranta grapes.

A little more

If La Peruana is the mother of all Pisco lovers, then Quebranta is the grand-daddy of all Pisco grapes. Over 400 years ago the first grapes were brought over from the Canary Islands; they were called the Black Listan. With qualities for making excellent fortified wines, they would eventually make astounding Pisco. Over the following two centuries, the Black Listan evolved into a grape whose properties can only be found in Peru. The “new” grape is called Quebranta.

Acholado

Acholado

Tasting Notes

Our Acholado is very complex with a symphony of aromas, but at the same time straight forward. The Quebranta grapes give this wonderful concoction sharpness and “grapiness”. The Torontel and Albilla grapes provide the delicate flowery notes and a touch of sweetness through soft peach elements.

This blend comprises of 60% Quebranta, 20% Torontel, and 20% Albilla grapes.

A little more

Acholado means mix, a terminology exclusive to Pisco, which derives from Cholo, slang for hybrid or cross-breed, akin to mule or mutt. When we are talking about our Acholado, it’s a different breed entirely. Acholado is a blend of various select grapes, typically ex-post.

Mosto Verde Torontel

Mosto Verde Torontel

Tasting Notes

The essence of bliss starts off with a soft kiss of honey and verbena followed by a hint of cinnamon. Then taste tingling tangy orange and bitter sweet lime ending with notes of flowery Jasmine. All in a smooth yet daring assembly.

This Mosto Verde is made purely of Torontel grapes.

A little more

The meaning of Mosto Verde is expansive, yet in the Pisco world very clear, it is a slightly different method of Pisco production. The key element in this process is down to the decision to halt the fermentation process half way through. As a result, five and a half times more grapes are used for the same amount of Pisco. This emphasises essential flavours of the grape and stronger aromas.
